12月4日，日本歸還的16只朱鹮隔離期滿，正式入住北京動(dòng)物園朱鹮飼養(yǎng)基地。動(dòng)物園對(duì)朱鹮籠舍進(jìn)行了全面消毒清理，并準(zhǔn)備了泥鰍、牛肉條、面包蟲(chóng)等朱鹮愛(ài)吃的食物。此次回歸的朱鹮將與動(dòng)物園已有的23只朱鹮共同飼養(yǎng)繁育，組成39只的朱鹮種群。朱鹮是全球?yàn)l危鳥(niǎo)類，國(guó)家一級(jí)保護(hù)動(dòng)物，素有鳥(niǎo)中“東方寶石”之稱。根據(jù)備忘錄，中方提供給日方繁育的朱鹮半數(shù)子女要?dú)w還，此次為日方第八次歸還。
